Why do police use German Shepherds and not Rottweilers!

My brother’s buddy who is a retired coach of police puppies said that one of the important reasons is a characteristic distinction between the two breeds.

Rottweilers (one of which my brother owns) are breed for defense. It is ingrained in their instincts to shield their proprietor or home. Because of this, they are not accurate for chasing down criminals. Tell a Rottweiler to chase a man down and he will stop each ten ft or so to flip round and make sure that you are ok earlier than continuing. You can see how that would possibly not be easy for officers.

A German Shepherd on the other hand was once breed for herding sheep. Its instincts enable you to supply a command and the dog will now not rest till the command is fulfilled. Tell a German Shepherd to chase down a crook and he is off barring a 2d idea for something, but catching the man you instructed him to catch. You can see how this is perfect for policing.

There very well could be other motives but this is the important one in accordance to our friend.

Edit: for the record, I absolutely agree about the awful reputations of positive breeds. My brother’s Rottweiler is the kindest and gentlest dog I have ever seen. I have known many pitbulls to be the same. It's all about how their proprietors increase them.

I mean significantly this canine is freaking adorable!
